ABOUT US
Our team integrates architecture and engineering, supporting project development from the creative phase through to construction. We work in a BIM environment and offer clients a proven ability to solve complex problems.
Founded by Daniele Lauria in Florence in 1999, our practice works across urban planning, architecture, exhibition design and interior design.
Our first project — an exhibition pavilion built in Piazza della Signoria in Florence and presented at the 2000 Venice Architecture Biennale — was followed by major public- and private-sector commissions, from the restoration of the former Santa Maria Maggiore convent in Florence, later home to the Casa della Creatività, to the design for Cascina Hospital.
Since 2009, Studio Lauria has also been active in South America, delivering projects in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and, above all, Brazil. There, our work has included the enhancement plan for Cotijuba Island in Belém do Pará, the regeneration of São Paulo’s historic centre and the construction of Motorola’s local offices.
Over the past decade, the practice has diversified its activities through specialist teams working on restoration — including projects for many of Florence’s museums, the Piacenza State Archives and the successful competition for the rehabilitation of Palermo’s former cotton mill — as well as on cultural venues and sports facilities. Cultural projects include the new 2,500-seat auditorium at Castello.
In the latter field, the practice won second prize in the competitions for Florence’s Franchi Stadium and Naples’ Vomero Stadium, and is redesigning the Federal Technical Centre at Coverciano, home of Italy’s national football teams.
Since 2024, the practice has also been active in Albania, with public projects — including the Shkodër Museums Master Plan and the visitor centre for the Bylis archaeological site — and private developments. More recently we are starting our operations in other European countries (such as Romania) and the Middle East.
Over the years, our ability to work in complex settings, develop new architectural concepts and engage with the restoration and enhancement of the built heritage has led us to collaborate with Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Leonardo Benevolo, Zaha Hadid Architects and Kengo Kuma.
Studio Lauria’s projects have been published in magazines and online platforms including Abitare, ArchDaily, Archello, Architect Magazine, Architettura Italiana, Architizer, Arq Peru, Decorar, DOMUS, Inexhibit, IQD, Plataforma Arquitectura, Wired and World Architecture.
