“Bromelia” began as a piece of multifunctional street furniture, but its ambition is broader: to transform a service element into a small environmental, social and symbolic infrastructure. Inspired by the bromeliad, a plant capable of collecting and retaining water, the structure interprets nature not as decoration but as an operational model.

Libraries, theatres and music venues are places where architecture becomes a collective experience. They are not simply containers for functions, but urban devices capable of generating knowledge, relationships and identity. Studio Lauria Network has addressed these themes in very different contexts, always focusing on perceptual quality, technical precision and the relationship with the community.

Residential design is one of the fields in which architecture most directly demonstrates its ability to influence quality of life. For Studio Lauria Network, designing homes means creating relationships: between inside and outside, residents and landscape, private space and collective life.

Temporary architecture is often the freest field for experimentation. A pavilion, installation or exhibition must be quick to build, clear in its communication and intense in its perceptual impact. Studio Lauria Network was born in part from this energy: its first project, the Internet Fiesta pavilion in Piazza della Signoria in Florence, was presented at the 2000 Venice Architecture Biennale; eleven years later, the same square hosted the installation for the first Festival of Europe.

Urbanism is no longer an abstract exercise: it shapes how people live and relate to one another, whether they can orient themselves and whether they feel a sense of belonging in the city they inhabit or visit. Studio Lauria Network approaches urban design as a process of listening and transformation, from neighbourhood-scale projects and the regeneration of historic areas to street furniture and the creation of new urban focal points.

Contemporary retail depends on the quality of the experience. A shop, restaurant or commercial space must be recognisable, efficient and enjoyable, and able to express a brand. Interior design is where architecture meets everyday life most directly, and where luxury is not ostentation but the careful selection of materials, surfaces, lighting and colour. Designing a hotel — or any hospitality destination — requires a precise synthesis of identity, comfort, sustainability and return on investment. Studio Lauria Network approaches hospitality by considering the hotel not simply as a building, but as an experience: a system of private and shared spaces, routes and landscape. Surfaces, materials and light are the ingredients of the multisensory approach applied by the practice across widely differing contexts.
Accessibility as a Design Value

For Studio Lauria Network, accessibility is not a compliance exercise but a central aspect of architectural quality. In projects for the Bargello Museums, the Accademia Gallery and the Laurentian Library, the practice has addressed the delicate relationship between historic heritage, inclusion and technical innovation, designing routes, museum displays, entrances, lifts, ramps, services and solutions for people with different disabilities.

Stadiums are no longer isolated objects, but complex urban “machines” that must embody identity and history while generating relationships and new economies. Studio Lauria Network has developed significant experience in sports architecture across different settings and scales: from its work on Florence Stadium as part of the team led by Kengo Kuma, to the redesign of the Coverciano Federal Technical Centre and the competition for Naples’ Collana Stadium.

Regenerating the historic centre of a metropolis such as São Paulo requires a deep understanding of how it has evolved and of the challenges it faces today. It also requires an analysis of the socio-economic impact that the project can generate and the role it can play in the city’s future.

Aware of the challenges of globalisation, we draw on Italian creativity to develop projects that respect and enhance local identities and cultures.
