Cypress Tower is a sixteen-storey residential building with four basement levels, designed to establish a direct relationship with Tirana’s urban landscape and lake. At ground level, a café and commercial spaces make the building permeable and active, while the upper floors contain apartments of different sizes, oriented to maximise light, views and outdoor space.
The tower’s identity comes from a dynamic envelope of perforated panels in varying shades of pale green. These elements filter solar radiation, modulate privacy and create a changing façade that responds to different light conditions. The reference to the cypress creates an ideal connection between the Tuscan and Albanian landscapes, translating a natural image into a contemporary architectural solution. Terraces, loggias and planting extend the domestic realm and make residential life more open and flexible.
The project demonstrates Studio Lauria’s ability to design housing around its specific users and setting: not as a repetitive model, but as a system that combines the individual quality of each home with efficient circulation and a distinctive urban presence. Structure, façades, building services, parking and public-facing functions are coordinated within an integrated vision that considers operating costs and durability. Cypress Tower gives the client a competitive and iconic building that is also practical, adaptable and rooted in its context, allowing innovation, comfort and real estate value to reinforce one another.
Aware of the challenges of globalisation, we draw on Italian creativity to develop projects that respect and enhance local identities and cultures.
