Campodoro Hotel

Hotel Campodoro is being created through the restoration of Marsciano’s former wine-making building known as “Il Cantinone”, a late-eighteenth-century structure set in the Umbrian countryside above a dense network of Roman-era tunnels and aqueducts. Its conversion into a boutique hotel does not erase its productive identity, but makes that identity the material of the project, enhancing the masonry, proportions, openings and relationship with the landscape to create an authentic hospitality experience.

Studio Lauria approaches rehabilitation as a work of precision, shaped by the site itself. Every room is designed in response to the characteristics of the existing building and the client’s brief. New functions are introduced with restraint, integrating guestrooms, shared spaces and services without obscuring the legibility of the historic structure. Natural materials, light, colour and texture are selected to create wellbeing and sensory continuity between inside and outside. Comfort is not expressed as a visible technological addition, but is achieved through coordinated building-services, energy and spatial solutions.

The project combines sensitivity to memory with a drive for innovation. Restoration and reuse reduce resource consumption, extend the building’s life and create economic value for the local area.
