The It4Fashion event, organized by PIN and LOGIS LAB, brought to Florence the main European companies operating in new technologies applied to the fashion sector. In 2016 the event was held in the spaces of the former “Manifattura”, a tobacco factory built between 1933 and 1940, probably based on the design of the engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, and closed since 2000.
The exhibition set-up allowed the restoration of one of the abandoned pavilions hosting three conference rooms and sixty stands, all made with wooden panels of various heights and colors.
The intervention of greatest architectural and visual impact was represented by the design of the access ramp that led visitors to the reception through the large entrance square. 20 meters long, it surpassed a difference in height of 120 cm and was characterized by two monolithic blocks covered with iron plates, burnished and slightly oxidized. It was a direct reference to the post- industrial context and also a tribute to the American artist Richard Serra.
