The new operational headquarters of STOCKTOTAL, the Brazilian partner of MOTOROLA Solutions, belongs to the peculiar category of interventions, increasingly frequent in Brazil, of the so-called “retrofit do novo”. Literal translation is almost impossible but, in fact, it is the construction of a new building based on an architectural project that “corrects” the one used to obtain building permits.
The main objective, therefore, was to adjust the alignments between the openings of the two floors giving a strong architectural value to the windows of the first level. The frames became cantilever volumes, suitably flared to connect the vertical line of the window with that of the doors on the ground floor. Here we solve a further problem of the initial project consisting of the design of different door heights.
The need for a large driveway entrance suggested the construction, in the upper part of the building, of a dense metal frame that balanced full and empty spaces of the elevation. The frame became the support for a colored metal mesh.
The work on the interiors aimed to rationalize the storage area and offer a bright and efficient design to the offices located on the second floor. Here we plan a layout with modular workstations and five meeting rooms, some of which become independent glazed volumes.
