In 1999 Internet was still a frontier to be explored and digitization a topic for technicians and experts. For this reason, the European Union promoted an event to communicate the social and educational uses of the web. The “Internet Fiesta” had Florence as its capital and here, the recently established Studio Lauria was contracted to design a space to “explain” the potential of the new media. The 540 square meter pavilion was built using a steel structure covered with microperforated and backlit aluminum plates.
The contrast between the monumental square and this contemporary volume was a great success. In 2000 the project was exhibited at the Venice Biennale directed by Massimiliano Fuksas.
